Scientific tourism

Equipo Tora Carey is a community-based non-profit organization composed of local fishermen and academic biologists to study and protect Punta Descartes‘ marine biodiversity. Through the involvement of sustainable tourism, local fishermen are employed to conduct continous research activities on reefs, sea turtles, rays and parrots.

Sea Turtle Observation

Where: Playa Rajada, Rajadita, Coyotera, El Jobo
When: 3 hrs, nightly between 8pm – 2am (depends on tide)
Includes: Introduction to the group, Sea turtle biology and current research results
What to bring: Dark, comfortable clothes, water bottle, camera
Costs: 25$ per Person

Hatchling Release

Where: Playa Rajada, Rajadita, Coyotera, El Jobo
When: 5-7pm (depends on tide)

What to bring: Camera
